While working on our unit SAVE OUR FORESTS . Room 20 decided to write their persuasive writing on this topic. Here is a good argument against cutting down our forests.
Is It Ok To Cut Down Our Forests?
Persuasive Writing written by Christine

Oh no please don’t cut down the forests, they are precious to us! In my opinion we should not cut down our forests.
Firstly, we should leave the forest because they can keep the birds safe from predators. Imagine yourself as a bird and a man came and chopped down the forest, then the next day you were homeless. Would you like to feel homeless?
Secondly the forest is a peaceful place to be in. The forest gives us oxygen. The trees give us oxygen to help us survive.
Thirdly native trees are never allowed to be cut. You know what could happen? You will get caught by the police! Native trees should not be harmed.
Therefore I believe that we should not cut down the forests.

Another persuasive writing about recycling.
I hope Athena persuades you to recycle.

Should We Recycle?
You have to say “yes” of course! We are going to help to save the earth because it is the right thing to do. We must recycle and quickly!
Firstly, recycling can help the children to make a lot of things like making pencil holders with milk bottles and sculptures using paper and wire to make amazing creative things.
Secondly because animals could die because we are not recycling, reducing and reusing. We are not doing enough of it. Do you know that 137 species get extinct every year from rubbish.
Thirdly recycling is good because you can make amazing bees wax wrappers. You can use them so you don’t have to use glad wrap anymore. Glad wrap is just so wrong!
It is time to say goodbye to plastic bags and rubbish. Start recycling people and let’s make a difference!

Hello
During Term 3  middle school were very lucky to go on a school trip to the Waitakere Ranges and visit the Arataki Visitor Centre.
Our Learning focus at school was Save Our Forests. This was the perfect place to visit. Children were introduced to the life processes of a forest and the ecology. It was a great way to motivate and experience a real forest habitat. It was an amazing day and we learnt so much!!

We found a spaceship there and had to help the aliens find evidence of life in the forest.

Markel is using a microscope to                                       investigate the bark.

Angie has found a beautiful fern
What have these girls found?

There is so much to see with a microscope.

Lani is feeling the texture                                                                                             while blindfolded.

Room 20 deserves a lunch break after all that investigating!

What a magnificent day!!We have learnt so much and saved the alien.

During term 3 we focused on our topic: Saving Our Planet. Room 20 learnt so much about how to recycle. Why it is important to recycle? Why is our environment important?
We looked at the rubbish in our lunchboxes and asked the question: How can we reduce the rubbish we create? Our solution- To make recycled paper to wrap our lunches.

We grated bees wax onto a piece of fabric and melted it in the oven. So simple and now we have wrappers to wrap our lunches. We can use this wrapper all year. Just a quick wipe with a damp cloth and it is ready for the next lunch.
